The inside story

As mentioned above that the dragon which was full of terror used to attack the Roman ships and cause damage to life and property. Once a priest came and burnt the dragon, to ease the pain and trouble of the natives of that place. The head didn’t burn. It is said and believed that the people took that dragon head and fixed it at the church gate.

Warning for the Evil

The dragon’s head was hanged at the church gate, it became a symbol of victory. The victory of good over evil.As people would put this symbol on the gates of their houses, to protect themselves from evil.

One more assumption of gargoyle existence is that the word gargoyle comes from a French word gargouille, meaning “throat” or “gullet.” Many people believe it is because of the gurgling sound of the water that passes through the spout or the mouth of the gargoyle.

And it also served the purpose of throwing extra rainwater away from the rooftops.

We can also relate it to the modern gutter system that prevents rain from logging into the house.Over the years the concept of gargoyles seems to be declined as the modern drainpipes have taken over.

They were meant to create fear in mind people in mediveal times .
