It is the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem following the Maccabean revolt against the Syrian-Greek army. Jews had risen up against their Greek-Syrian oppressors according to legend, on December 21st, the Winter Solstice, millions of Jews and their non-Jewish friends celebrate the birth of a new cycle of light. The festival is celebrated for eight days and nights. What is the name of the festival? It is the festival joy, love celebration, and harmony.

Lighting of candles

The practice of lighting eight candles back to 1st-century-CE scholars Hillel and Shammai. Hillel used to light one candle on the first night of Hanukkah and one more each night of the festival unlike Shammaiwho lit eight candles the first night, decreasing by one each night thereafter.

Light is the sensation of sight is rightly said. The light ensures positivity in our lives killing the dark night. So lighting candles led lights and other bright objects will please your mood and wipe out all negativity from your lives. The lighting of the menorah, which is a multi-branched candelabra, that followers of Judaism use on the day of Hanukkah.

Latkes (Potato Pancakes)

Potato pancakes are shallow-fried pancakes of grated, flour and a binding ingredient such as egg or applesauce. They may be topped with a variety of condiments, ranging from the savory, to the sweet, or they may be served plain.

Hanukkah Jelly Doughnuts (Sufganiyot)

A traditional jelly doughnut served at Hanukkah comes with an interesting twist. Instead of being made from yeast dough, the doughnuts start with pâte à choux batter: the same batter used for cream puffs and éclairs. The result: light doughnuts with a crisp exterior and wonderfully tender, creamy interior, perfect for a dollop of jelly.

Bumuelos

Jews of Spanish origin developed Banuelos or buñuelos—fritters fried in olive oil and dipped in honey or sugar syrup or sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar—as sweet Hanukkah treats.

Blintzes

blintz is a rolled-filled pancake of Ashkenazi Jewish origin, similar to a crepe or Russian blini.
