Spirited Away (千と千尋の神隠し), translated from Japanese as “Sen and Chihiro’s Spiriting Away”, is a film written and directed Hayao Miyazaki, produced by Toshio Suzuki and animated by Studio Ghibli.

Spirited Away is surely one of the finest of all animated films. It was made by frame-by-frame hand-drawing. Miyazaki master of this style of animation and storytelling.

Miyazaki is a master of telling the tales, which are grey in shades and break away from the conventional style of the black and white universe. The lead characters are usually strong, independent girls or young women, and the villains are dark and scary but still have a silver lining in them which makes them realistic.

Aries (March 21-April 19) – Dragon Haku

Dragon Haku acts differently than human Haku. He seems braver and daring, who willing jumps into action for Chihiro. When he is cursed by Zeniba, that does deter him from flying to her house to get to Chihiro. Dragon Haku takes action whenever it is needed, a trait that makes him resonating like an Aries.

Taurus (April 20-May 20) – Aogaeru

Aogaeru is eaten by No-Face about halfway through the film and is spit out near the ending. But in the limited time, we learned a lot about his personality. Aogaeru is a pretty hard-worker due to his love for money. He is extremely materialistic and will do anything for a few pieces of gold. Because he stubbornness for searching for any little pieces he can find, he is tricked and eaten by No-Face to gain a voice.

Gemini (May 21-June 20) – Boh

Boh was one of the more complex characters in Spirited Away due to his drastic character change. Originally he wanted all the attention and was selfish, not willing to understand other’s problems. But after he transformed into a mouse by Zeniba’s spell and travels with Chihiro, he learns to be compassionate. This duality is extremely similar to the duality of the Gemini, making him a perfect Gemini.

Cancer (June 21-July 22) – Lin

Lin is an important character in the movie. She looks as uncaring and a bit cold in the starting. But once she got to know Chihiro she becomes more helping and loving. Her attitude resembles that of a crab’s hard shell. Lin discloses that she is focused on making money in order to leave the bathhouse.

Like a true friend, she helps Chihiro whenever she needs it. She also gives her the train ticket she was saving for herself and even threatens No-Face when he chases Chihiro. She displays vibes of a Cancer perfectly.

Leo (July 23-August 22) – Zeniba

Zeniba the twin of Yubaba, seems like a replica of Yubaba. She was extremely warlike towards Haku and seemed like another villain, in the scheme of things. But, when Chihiro travels to her and meets, Zeniba shows plain kindness and compassion for the travelers. She acts as a perfect Leo. She’s confident, courageous, and has a warm and loving heart.

Virgo (August 23-September 22) – Haku

Haku is an extremely hard-worker. He is a twelve-year-old boy and, as Yubaba’s apprentice, he is second in command at the bathhouse. He is focused and sincere in work that, he even forgot his own identity.

But Haku is also kind and gentle, to Chihiro. He stays very loyal to Chihiro throughout the movie and, while working for Yubaba, remained loyal to her.

He seems close to Chihiro, and to Kamaji.

The film grossed an unbeaten box office record in Japan, exceeding 30 billion yen. It has received multiple international awards, including the Golden Bear Award at the 52nd Berlin International Film Festival and the second Oscar ever awarded for Best Animated Feature, the first anime film to win an Academy Award.
