Ares the Greek God of War: Ares is the god of war, one of the Twelve OLYMPIAN GODS and the son of ZEUS and HERA. Ares represents the violent and physical untamed aspect of war. He was depicted as a beardless youth, either nude with a helmet and spear or sword, or as an armed warrior. Homer portrays him as moody and unreliable, and as being the most unpopular god on earth and Olympus. He generally represents the chaos of war.

Taurus (April 20 – May 21)

HESTIA was the virgin goddess of the hearth: Hestia was the Greek virgin goddess of the hearth, home, and hospitality. In Greek mythology, she is the eldest daughter of Cronus and Rhea. As the goddess of the family hearth, she also presided over the cooking of bread and the preparation of the family meal.

When the gods Apollon and Poseidon sought for her hand in marriage, Hestia refused and asked Zeus to let her remain an eternal virgin. He agreed and she took her place at his royal hearth.

Demeter, the goddess of agriculture, grain, and bread. In astrology, Virgo is often depicted as a woman carrying grain, just like Demeter, the goddess of the harvest and one of the most powerful figures in Greek mythology.

Demeter was frequently associated with images of the harvest, including flowers, fruit, and grain. She was also sometimes pictured with her daughter Persephone. Demeter is not generally portrayed with any of her consorts; the exception is Iasion, the youth of Crete who lay with her in a thrice-plowed field, and was sacrificed afterward by a jealous Zeus with a thunderbolt.

Demeter’s name literally translates as “Mother Earth”. She was seen as a mother figure and a caretaker because she was very involved in the growth and harvest of the food from the Earth.
